Maternal Immunisation

Problem

Pertussis and seasonal influenza are highly infectious respiratory diseases associated with increased morbidity and mortality, especially in at-risk groups such pregnant women and infants. Despite government recommendations, vaccine uptake in pregnancy remains low, with London having the lowest uptake levels in England and similarly, low uptake is observed within NWL.

Aim

To improve uptake of seasonal influenza and pertussis vaccines in pregnant women within the NWL population. Using the WSIC dataset, this will be achieved using advanced statistical models to understand patient level and general practice level predictors of vaccine uptake.
