Susan Barry
Consultant midwife, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Susan is a consultant midwife at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She completed an MSc in midwifery in 2004 at University College Dublin with a focus on women’s experiences of intrapartum care in the Irish maternity system.
Susan is committed to continuous development and supporting midwives to deliver high quality maternity care. Her area of special interest is supporting the professional well-being of midwives and reducing burn out within the midwifery workforce, resulting in improved care for women and families.
Susan is part of a Fellowship Duo with senior research midwife Tina Penderville. They are exploring a new model of care; ‘Partnership in Midwifery‘ which involves two midwives working in partnership caring for two women during labour. The Partnership in Midwifery Study will explore if this model will better support midwives working in obstetric units resulting in improved woman centred care.
