Iman Hikal

Iman is the Infant Feeding & Weight Management Lead for the Merton 0-19 service, part of Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH).

Since studying Nutrition as an undergraduate, she has developed a strong interest in Public Health and went on to work in the community in paediatric obesity prevention. Recognising the importance breastfeeding plays in child health and wanting to focus on how to support women achieve their feeding goals, she then went on to further study and qualify as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Currently, Iman is a clinical supporting breastfeeding with mothers and supports staff members with knowledge and the development of breastfeeding support and skills, such as taking the Trust through UNICEF BFI accreditation.

Iman also continues to work in childhood obesity by leading the weight management service for Merton. In a duo with Indira Lopez-Bassols and Iona de Wet, her Fellowship project aims to advance and share the Merton Specialist Breastfeeding Clinic model, to reduce variation in quality of care across the NHS and improve patient experience.
