Our Social Care Team recently delivered a series of lunchtime “How To…” online workshops, as part of the Social Care Research Capacity Building Programme.
Designed for anyone looking to develop essential research skills, the workshops ran across April, May and June, offering practical, accessible guidance on engaging with and interpreting research. Whether new to research or looking to refresh your skills, the sessions aimed to demystify the process of reading academic papers and help participants feel more confident in appraising their contents.
Expertly led by Dr Catherine Lynch, Associate Professor in Healthcare at the University of West London, the sessions were concise, engaging and grounded in real-world examples.
One attendee shared, “Great use of my lunch break, thank you! Very encouraging! The examples and personal perspectives were great.”
Session 1: How to read a qualitative research paper
Session 2: How to read a quantitative research paper
Session 3: How to read a systematic review
Session 4: How to critically appraise a research paper
