Tina Prendeville
Senior Research Midwife
Tina is a Senior Research Midwife within the Women’s Health Research Centre, Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare Trust. She previously supported other midwives and nurses as a North West London NIHR Research Champion and is currently working in reproductive health research supporting fetal medicine studies to detect problems in pregnancy. This led to her interest in innovative technology detecting biomarkers in complications in pregnancy using genomic technology, such as exome sequencing, to predict and manage disease and resulted in her completing her MSc in Genomic Medicine at Imperial College London last year.
In the theme of innovation and change, her Fellowship with NIHR ARC NLW Improvement Leader Fellowship is exploring a new way of working for midwives on labour ward. Passionate about improving support for midwives, Tina is exploring the Partnerships in Midwifery Model, two midwives in partnership caring for two women to encourage support, collaboration and improving overall care for women and babies in the intrapartum setting.
Working within a partnership of her own, a duo with Susan Barry, Consultant Midwife at Imperial College NHS Trust and a team of Imperial Midwives who bring passion and enthusiasm to improve wellbeing of midwives. This collaborative effort is giving a platform to midwives, acknowledging the demands required of the new labour ward midwife and, in partnership with service users and aims to improve the experience and care of women and babies.
