Shivali Lakhani

Pharmacist, The Middlesex Pharmaceutical Group of LPCs

Shivali is a Pharmacist with experience in many areas including, Community Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy, Medicines Optimisation, Academia and Research.

Shivali currently has a portfolio career including working as an Education Supervisor at the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE), University Of Manchester, as a facilitator at King’s College, London, and as an Operational Support and Service Development Clinical Pharmacist with the Middlesex Pharmaceutical Group (MPG) of Local Pharmacy Committees (LPCs). All roles are complemented by her current appointment as Community Pharmacy Research Champion with the National Institute of Health Research, Northwest London Clinical Research Network (NIHR NWL CRN), as well as being appointed as an Honorary Research Fellow with Imperial College London.

With pharmacy colleague Marsha Alter and research colleague Dr Mina Mallaah, Shivali is embarking on the NWL ARC Improvement Leader Fellowship programme under the mentorship of Prof Mitch Blair (Professors of Paediatrics and Child Public Health) at Imperial College London.

The aim of her project is to investigate the barriers and drivers of launching a Self-Care Pharmacy First Scheme for Children in NWL beginning with examination of Northwick Park Hospital Trust data for paediatric A&E attendances to determine age, conditions and postcodes most commonly presenting. Through targeted detailed surveys and interviews, the trio will research the public acceptability of this scheme together with the needs of Community Pharmacy teams before making recommendations for a pilot service.
