Lindsey Stedman
Patient, Carer and Public Representative
Lindsey is the main carer for her son, a young adult with a complex genetic condition that was considered rare 24 years ago. She has taken every opportunity to use her lived experience to support clinical staff, non-medical professionals and families affected by the condition. Examples include setting up and chairing a national charity; contributing to long-term studies, steering and working groups; collaborating on research papers; devising bespoke resources and influencing policy.
In 2021 Lindsey completed the Peer Leader Development Programme delivered by the Personalised Care Group at NHS England and NHS Improvement. Being a Peer Leader / patient voice, she is working collaboratively to influence the way personalised care is developed and delivered. She contributes to NHS programmes both nationally and at Guys and St Thomas's Trust and supports her son with his participation as a Peer Leader too.
Lindsey will be working alongside Karen Taylor and Jude Irvine from the Royal Brompton and Harefield Patient and Public Engagement Group (PPEG). The trio's focus during the Fellowship will be to increase patient and public involvement in quality improvement projects across the Heart, Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group of Guys and St Thomas's Trust with a specific focus on equality, diversity and inclusion.
