We’re delighted to celebrate Professor Helen Ward, Professor of Public Health at Imperial College London and NIHR ARC Northwest London researcher, on her election as a 2025 Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
Helen is among 54 exceptional biomedical and health scientists recognised this year for their outstanding contributions to medical science, groundbreaking research, and work to improve health for all.
Throughout her career, Helen has championed public health and equity, co-founding the UK’s first health service for sex workers and leading influential work in epidemiology and health inequalities. Her election to the Academy is a testament to her impact and dedication.
Reflecting on the announcement, Helen said: “I’ve been fortunate to be able to combine my interest in the science of epidemiology with my passion for equity.”
The 2025 Fellows cohort also reflects the Academy’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, with 41% women and 20% from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
Congratulations, Helen — a truly well-deserved recognition.
